Consistently Exceeding Your Expectations In Gulfport

Well-known Gulfport man dies in Mississippi accident

A man well-known in the community for his work in the world of business and real estate development died in a recent pedestrian accident on the local beach.

Authorities responded to the accident near daybreak. Per reports, that the man was walking on the beach died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the vehicle which hit him suffered injuries. Rescuers took the driver to the hospital.

Apparently, the driver of the vehicle swerved off of Highway 90 for no apparent reason. The car veered off into the sand of the beach before coming to rest. Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.

Pedestrian accidents are preventable and have catastrophic consequences

As this tragic story illustrates, pedestrian accidents too frequently leave the victim of the accident dead. The victim in this case may have had a family who was counting on his ongoing support that they will no longer receive.

The accident no doubt will cause his loved ones emotional distress as well.

In other cases, a pedestrian may suffer a catastrophic injury after being hit by a motor vehicle. Because pedestrians are especially vulnerable to the blow of a car, SUV or truck, brain injuries and spinal cord injuries are strong possibilities.

These types of injuries could leave a person permanently disabled and requiring constant medical and personal care.

While pedestrians of course have some responsibility for their own safety, drivers involved in these types of accidents often did not do enough to keep those walking around their vehicle safe.

A driver who is under the influence, distracted or even just a little tired can easily cause a pedestrian accident. Speeding or driving while using a cell phone can also lead to a serious pedestrian accident.

When drivers engage in this sort of careless behavior, they can and should be held accountable for their negligence.
